Connecticut: We’re a Little Kinder to Adults with Vices Than Our Neighbors

As bad as we believe the State of Connecticut taxes or regulates access to whatever 'vice' that we have, at least Connecticut is not as bad as our immediate neighbors.

Did you know that there is one state in the US that completely bans fireworks? Massachusetts. No sparklers, bottle rockets, smoke bombs, nothing with a fuse. Massachusetts totally banned fireworks for private use in 2020. Connecticut is a teensy bit more lenient, we allow sparklers, yay. Less than a hundred miles from Connecticut in New Hampshire or Pennsylvania, year-round fireworks retailers will sell an adult anything that they want.

Another reason to consider Connecticut over surrounding states for adults with vices: Many of our neighbors have banned flavored tobacco. Any form of flavored tobacco or nicotine product is illegal in Massachusetts, Maine, New York, and Rhode Island. Not Connecticut, we allow any flavored vape juice, a tin of Apple Skoal? No prob. Our border towns in Enfield, Danbury and Greenwich always run low on menthol cigarettes.

Gamblers? Connecticut has the two largest casinos on the East coast, and they're 10 minutes from each other. Sure, Atlantic City is great, and the Poconos, Boston's nice Encore, and Yonkers exist, but Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods are ultimate destinations.

Cannabis? That's where Connecticut loses. Massachusetts let it's industry grow to a sustainable level, and now it's battle of the fittest. Connecticut caps THC, product, and access, while newcomers New York and Maine have let things fly.
