USA Today just released their latest version of USA Today 10 Best and two of Connecticut's beautiful aquariums have made their list of 10 Best Aquariums in the US.

According to USA Today, aquariums from across the United States were nominated by their panel of experts and voted on by their readers to arrive at their rankings. The #1 aquarium for 2025 is in a location that most of us wouldn't expect - Springfield, Missouri. Johnny Morris' Wonders of Wildlife National Museum & Aquarium is about as far from salt water as you can get in America, but they've been voted as the best.

Connecticut, which has a fairly decent shoreline has two world class aquariums on USA Today's list for 2025. Coming in at #10 is The Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk. It's a wonderful facility that has been in operation since 1988, and over half a million visitors enjoy what I think are it's best attractions - Pinniped Cove, which allows the aquarium's seals to swim right under your gaze as they enjoy their indoor/outdoor enclosure, and the Maritime Aquarium's famous Shark and Ray Touch Tank. Their Meerkat exhibit is also 1000% on the cuteness scale.

The larger of Connecticut's aquariums came in at #5 on USA Today's 10 Best, Mystic Aquarium. Mystic Aquarium has been open since 1973, is home to the only Beluga Whales in New England and is pretty much one of the top tourist attractions in Connecticut every year.
