Connecticut Farm Breweries Get the Green Light
Time to knock back a nice cold brew and say a hearty cheers to the joy of keeping it local.
Back in April of this year, I wrote about an act that was headed to Governor Malloy's desk.
On July 7, 2017 Governor Malloy signed bill H.B. 5928 into law creating a manufacturer's permit for farm breweries.
The new, so called, Farm Brewery license, enables permittees to make, store, bottle, distribute, and sell up to 75,000 gallons of beer a year, and to advertise their product as "Connecticut Craft Beer."
But wait, there's more goodness. The new law also lets permittees sell their beer on-premises and, if they get the necessary farmers' market beer sales permit, then they can also sell at farmers' markets.
And as if that wasn't enough to make you say, Salut, there's even more:
The Farm Brewery license allows permittees to offer tastings and free samples, and retail sales for both on and off-premises consumption.
Now I'm really thirsty. Maybe we can soon enjoy some of these great offerings at an i95 beer tasting event.
In the meantime, don't forget that i95's Brews and BBQ event is right around the corner. Saturday July 22 from 3 pm.m - 9 p.m. at Ives Concert Park in Danbury.
Tickets are 15 dollars in advance and includes your first beer.
