Connecticut Celebrates the Beauty of Outdoors With National Trails Day This Weekend

Now that the weather is getting nice, there's no place I would rather be than the outdoors. One of my favorite things to do throughout the summer is hike and now I will be able to do it as much as possible as we filter in the nice weather.

Connecticut has so many different hiking trails available throughout the state and it's really nice for people who like being active and spending their time outdoors. This coming weekend, June 1 and 2, the Connecticut Forest and Park Association put together a series of events for Connecticut Trails Day.

Connecticut Trails Day is based around the first weekend of June and it's to celebrate National Trails Day which is a day of public events that are aimed at the advocacy and trail service started by the American Hiking Society, according to trails.org.

Connecticut has expanded its own trail day to 2 separate days (June 1 and 2) with over 175 events taking place throughout the entire state. We also host more events than any other state in the country.

The trails day events are free, open to everyone, and are guided by people who are familiar with each location you are at. There are many different events taking place from hiking, biking, running, walking, kayaking, horseback riding, bird watching and so much more. I think this is a wonderful idea. It promotes going outside and keeps people active. We really do have some beautiful trails around the state and I'm happy to see that they are pushing for them to be utilized. And even better, we lucked out with weather. It's supposed to be sunny with high 70's and low 80's this weekend.
