I heard the news that we have a new pope as I shopped at Big Y, and I found a unique way for us Connecticut Catholics to celebrate this historic day.

We have a Masters of meat in New Britain, his name is Martin Rosol's Inc., and for generations us Catholics have flocked to their doors this time of the year for their special Easter Kielbasa. Sorry, to be accurate Rosol's says they're Kielbasy Polish Sausage, or Easter Kielbasa Kellies. Rosol's Easter Kielbasa is a slightly sweeter version of their 'usual' smoked recipe. It's very mild, the garlic and spice flavor comes through though, and the smoke? So good. The Kellies are shaped like hot dogs, thinner links perfect for a New England roll.

It's May 8, 2025. Easter was almost two weeks ago, but we have a new Pope from Chicago, and there are a lot of Polish sausage lovers there, and here in CT. Luckily, I found an 8 pack of Rosol's Kielbasa Kellies at Big Y in Torrington. It's also still available on martinrosol.com, and they still have the Easter Kielbasa Rings, Patties, and Chubs in stock. I know it's a stretch, but hey, these are limited-time products.

Why is there a special Easter kielbasa? Smoked sausage is a main ingredient of traditional Polish Easter dinners, my wife's family always served kielbasa from their cousin's, Janik Sausage, the generational legendary sausage makers of Enfield. (Sorry Janik, I cheated on you today).
