A Greater Hartford-Area Restaurant Will Finally Open in Groton
For the first time that I can remember a Greater Hartford-area restaurant will open one of it's new locations in New London County. Surprisingly, not in either casino.

Wood-n-Tap is a Connecticut original, it's first location opened on Sisson Avenue in Hartford in 2002. Since then, they've opened 9 more Wood-n-Tap restaurants around central Connecticut, and one just over the border in Massachusetts. You can find a Wood-n-Tap in Enfield, Farmington, Hamden, Hartford, Newington, Rocky Hill, Southington, Vernon, Wallingford, and West Springfield, Mass.
Get ready New London County, Wood-N-Tap's 11th location will open soon in the completely renovated 99 Restaurant location in Groton at 117 Long Hill Road. The brand-new Wood-n-Tap - Groton has a projected June 2025 opening date, and they just announced on the company website that they're starting the interview process and hiring for most positions.
If you've never been to any of the 10, Wood-n-Tap's menu has a little bit of everything - classic American pub favorites like wings, calamari, and pretzels to burgers, salads, seafood, pasta, bowls and wraps. I just had their French Dip sandwich at the Southington location, and it was delicious. This is very good news for the hungry in Groton, a Connecticut-based restaurant group with enough faith to open in New London County, and NOT in Mashantucket or Uncasville? That's a rarity.
Pay attention Max restaurant, Dave's Hot Chicken, Nardelli's, Frankie's, Sally's, Marketplace, Colony Grill, and other Central and Western Connecticut movers and shakers in the food world. Nice move Wood-n-Tap, I hope that others follow you down Route 9 and 395.
