Do you love coffeehouses? Do you love cats? Well, my heavily caffeinated feline aficionado, there's a cool place in New Haven that I think you need to hear about. It's called Mew Haven Cat Café, and after learning more about what they do, I'm wondering why there aren't more of these types of establishments around Connecticut?

What is a cat café? According to mewhavencatcafe.com, it's a business establishment that has numerous cats available for customers to play with, usually at an hourly rate, and often offers food and drink. Mew Haven Cat Café, which is located at 904 Whalley Ave in New Haven, offers coffee drinks and an assortment of sweets and pastries on their menu. While you're enjoying your coffee and treats, you get to enjoy the company of numerous cats, all of which are adoptable rescues from North Haven's Halfway Home Rescue. Tickets for a 50 minute kitty hang average between $10-$15 depending on your age, or you can go cat-crazy with 3 hour sessions or monthly memberships.

There are plenty of dog-friendly establishments around Connecticut, and Mew Haven has been in business for a few years, and it's still the only one of it's kind, as far as I can tell. What the hell cat people? As a lifelong dog lover, if someone came up with a Chihuahua-rescue café, I'd be there every week.

I see posts on social media all the time from fellow dog owners asking if there are dog-friendly establishments around Connecticut, I think it's time to rally the troops cat people.
