Arrest Made in New Milford Robbery: Putnam County Police Track Down Suspect
Sheriff Kevin J. McConville has some news to share about a recent arrest related to a robbery that went down in Connecticut.
On September 30, 2024, around 3:45 PM, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office got the word about a vehicle and suspect involved in a knife-point robbery in New Milford, CT. Here’s what allegedly went down:
The suspect followed a victim home after they picked up a FedEx delivery containing an Apple Watch. Once they arrived, the suspect tried to grab the package while threatening the victim with a knife and even attempted to stab them multiple times.
Just a couple of hours later, around 5:10 PM, members of the Narcotics Enforcement Unit spotted the suspect's vehicle cruising west on Interstate 84 in Patterson. They teamed up with local road patrol deputies and the New York State Police to pull the car over. Inside was 28-year-old Dalin Gonzalez-Marte from Philadelphia, who was quickly identified by the victim as the robber. To make matters worse for him, a knife and the stolen property were found in the vehicle.
According to the Putnam County Sheriff's Department Press Release:
After his arrest, Gonzalez-Marte was taken to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, where New Milford Police conducted an interview. They had a warrant ready for him back in Connecticut, charging him with First-Degree Robbery, Second-Degree Larceny, and Unlawful Restraint. He faced the music in Putnam County Court on October 1 as a fugitive and was ordered to stay behind bars without bail while he awaits extradition back to Connecticut.
Do you really need an Apple watch so bad that you're willing to hold someone up at Knifepoint? That is when you know you've transitioned to full dirtbag. Or maybe that transition happened a long time ago, I don't have the suspect's jacket.
