I've been on a quest for good pizza in Torrington since I moved here from Waterbury three years ago, and it's been tough. I've eaten at all the pizza places that my neighbors have suggested, and I'm haven't been really satisfied until this week. Finally, after an arduous journey, I've tried a pizza made in Torrington that shut me up.

This is Roma Pizza, it's located in downtown Torrington at 24 High Street. My wife and I have passed by many times, and many have suggested it, but honestly the exterior of the place made us keep driving. It was our loss, because the large #20 5 cheese pizza we got the other night blew us away. I could tell we had been missing out on something great as soon as I pulled my car into the small parking lot on the side of the small building, a steady stream of customers zipped in and out for the 5 minutes that I was parked, and the smell that was coming out of the exhaust fans on the building was just heavenly.

What you see in the photo above is what was making those incredible smells, a true wood-fired brick oven. This place is a well-tuned machine, and Roma does a lot more than just pizza. We also tried their wings, which were really good too.

I've tried, and liked: Sasso's, Berkshire Cafe, Joe's, Anthony's, Vinny's, North Two Guys, Venetian, Marzano, Pizza Palace, DaCapo, and Harwinton. My runner up?
