5 Connecticut Concert Venues Rank Among Best in World in 2021

We love our live music here in Connecticut. According to Pollstar, the primary trade publication for the concert industry, Connecticut is home to 5 venues that rank among the world's best in ticket sales in different categories of the concert industry.

Pollstar just released their 2021 year-end issue, which lists the worldwide top tours, promoters, arenas, theaters, clubs, stadiums, amphitheaters concert grosses, and ticket sales, among many other categories, related to the live entertainment industry.

Although 2020 was a catastrophic loss for the live music industry as a whole, but 2021 was great for Connecticut. With the state's low coronavirus numbers through the Summer, we were lucky enough to have many performers make a tour stop here. We also saw the opening of the beautiful Hartford Healthcare Amphitheater in Bridgeport, and the Nationally-broadcast Farm Aid Festival was hosted by Hartford's Xfinity Theater.

In the category of Top 200 Arena Venues Worldwide Ticket Sales, the beautiful Mohegan Sun Arena came in at #11 on the list, with sales of 185,459 tickets and $14,609,430 in gross ticket sales. Mohegan Sun sold more tickets in 2021 than every venue in the Northeast US, except for Madison Square Garden, which came in at #2 on Pollstar's list.

Hartford's Xfinity Theater fared well in the Top 100 Amphitheater Worldwide Ticket Sale category, coming in at #40, with 95,754 tickets sold, for a gross of $4,915,856.

The Premier Theater at Foxwoods Resort and Casino in Mashantucket, CT landed at #28 on Pollstar's list of the Top 200 Theater Venues Worldwide Ticket Sales, selling 44,044 tickets for a gross of $6,976,076.

New Haven's College Street Music Hall landed at #32 in Worldwide Ticket Sales in Pollstar's Top 200 Club Venues list, with 20,540 tickets sold, for a gross of $785,986.

And finally in the Top 100 Stadium Worldwide Ticket Sale category, New Haven's Westville Music Bowl came in at #22, with 68,891 tickets sold at a gross of $4,248,326. Westville Music Bowl was just narrowly beat out by Citi Field in NYC, and Citizens Bank Park in Philly. Incredible. Pick any sized venue, Connecticut has some of the best in the world.
