Wine lovers rejoice — Today (May 25) is National Wine Day. That means that this weekend, you're going to want to hit some of the best local vineyards on the Connecticut Wine Trail.

National Wine Day is celebrated each year on the last Friday in May, and its purpose is to spread the love and health benefits of wine. One way you can show the love is to visit some of the most popular wineries in the local area. To make it a little easier for you to decide where to go, we've listed five of the most popular local wineries. See if you can get to them all this weekend.

    DiGrazia Winery

    131 Tower Road, Brookfield, CT

    One of my favorite local wineries is DiGrazia VineyardsI'm a big fan of their dessert wines, and you have to try their Connecticut grown blueberry and Connecticut grown pear dessert wines. Plus, visitors can enjoy a guided winery tour and wine tasting, country gift shop and picnic area on the patio.

    Walker Road Vineyards

    11 Walker Road, Woodbury, CT

    Walker Road Vineyards is a small, family-owned farm winery located in historic Woodbury, Connecticut. If classic wines are you thing, this may be the place to visit. They even have a "live music series" starting this weekend. Check their web site for scheduled performers.

    White Silo Farm & Winery

    32 CT-37, Sherman, CT

    White Silo Farm & Winery is just a short drive away. Located in the rolling hills of Sherman, Connecticut. While you're there, don't forget to sample some of their award winning Connecticut Wines. They also host many farm festivals featuring their seasonal farm fruit and vegetables.

    Hopkins Vineyard

    25 Hopkins Rd, Warren, CT

    Set on the northern shore of Lake Waramaug, Hopkins Vineyard, a family-owned Connecticut Farm, is the home of some high quality award winning vino. The location, plus their proximity to the lake make it the perfect climate for an extended growing season for their grape varieties.

    Haight-Brown Vineyards

    29 Chestnut Hill Rd, Litchfield, CT

    The Haight-Brown Vineyard and Winery is situated on ten acres in the Litchfield Hills. It's a winery of historic proportions, in 1978 the Connecticut State Legislature  passed a Farm Winery Act and Haight Vineyard became Connecticut’s first established winery.
