Connecticut State Police report that a non-profit organization, Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., has provided bullet and stab protective vests for two police dogs.

K9 Hugo will wear a vest sponsored by Curtiss Ryan Honda of Shelton. This brave police dog is assigned to Trooper Pieter Groot of Troop C in Tolland. A fundraiser hosted by Beacon Valley Animal Hospital in Naugatuck sponsored the body armor, which Trooper First Class Edward Anuszewski's partner, K9 Texas of Troop A in Southbury, will wear.

The Massachusetts based non-profit, Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., has made more than 2,400 of these vests available to police dogs throughout the United States with donations from private citizens and corporations.

You can imagine that these vests aren't cheap. Though they cost between $1,795 – $2,234 each, a suggested donation to provide this protective body armor for one of these amazing law enforcement dogs is just $1,050.

Would you like to sponsor one of the 30,000 police dogs in the United States? You can call 508-824-6978, go to their website by clicking here or mail your donation to: Vested Interest in K9s, P.O. Box 9 East Taunton, MA 02718.
