You Miss Boston Market in Connecticut? Give This Place a Try

Over the past year, all of the Boston Market restaurants located in Connecticut shut down for good. As of April, only 27 Boston Markets were open nationally, according to thestreet.com. I certainly miss the homestyle classic selections that Boston Market used to serve, but I found a worthy replacement for those who miss their simple American comfort food cuisine.

I can't tell you how many times we bypassed Honey Baked Ham Co on the Berlin Turnpike in Newington on our way to the Boston Market, and never gave it another thought. I finally stopped in over the weekend, and I was very pleasantly surprised with what they offer.

Stupidly enough, I imagined that it was a specialty ham store, which kind of turned out to be true. Honey Baked Ham Company is a national franchise that opened for the first time in 1957 in Detroit, Michigan. As of now according to the company's website, over 400 Honey Baked Ham Co locations are operating across the US. Connecticut currently has two: 2657 Berlin Turnpike in Newington, and 1270 Boston Post Road in Milford. The company is just starting to expand their reach into our area of the world too, four new locations are in the works for Massachusetts, including one in Springfield according to whatnowboston.com.

You won't find Boston Market's famous rotisserie chickens, but I did sink my teeth into Honey Baked Ham Co's signature ham, and it's delicious. You'll also find the comforts of turkey, ham, and chicken salads and sandwiches, bbq meats, classic sides, and a nice selection of desserts. Try this place, it's worth the trip.
