Seven fatalities have been reported after a vintage military aircraft crashed this morning at Bradley International Airport.

As the Associated Press confirmed the five deaths, the identities of the victims have not yet been made public pending an investigation and notification of the families.

State police have confirmed that a Vintage Boeing B-17 Military Aircraft, a four engine heavy bomber, has crashed at Bradley International Airport, causing the airport to shut down, and diverting flights to other airports.

During a press conference on Wednesday afternoon (October 2) Windsor Locks First Selectman Chris Kervick said that the vintage aircraft, which was part of an air show that was going on over the last few days at the airport, lost control during landing and crashed into the de-icing facility around 10:54 AM.

As of this writing, WFSB reports that six unidentified patients were taken to the hospital. There were a reported 13 people on the plane, three of whom were crew members and 10 of whom were paid passengers. At least one person having been transported to the hospital via Life Star. State police also say that at least one other person was on the ground near the maintenance facility, but it is unclear at this time whether or not that person has suffered injuries.

Authorities report that that representatives from the FAA, the FBI and Homeland Security are on the scene assisting the evidence technicians from the National Transportation Safety Board.
