By my count, there are fifteen 18 hole public Disc Golf courses in Connecticut. Isn't it about time that the city of Danbury got on board?

Disc Golf, sometimes known as Frisbee Golf, is similar to traditional golf, but without the golf clubs, golf shoes, and tucked in collared shirt. Instead, players use a flying disc or Frisbee where the disc is thrown from the tee area to a target hole, which in Disc Golf is usually a special metal basket.

According to an article in the NewsTimes that was published last month, there has been a proposal to build a Disc Golf course in Danbury at Farrington Woods park that was first pitched to the city three years ago. So what's the holdup? Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton told the NewsTimes he has some issues with the Farrington Woods location.

I have some reservations about this particular project and using it at this site. If you can guarantee me nothing permanent will be put in these facilities and no trees will be cut down, that's a different conversation.

For the last 18 months, the Disc Golf project has been going nowhere even after volunteers with the help of Danbury City Council member, Duane Perkins have suggested other possible locations.

Disc Golf is a professional organization and is growing in popularity year after year. In my humble opinion, I think Disc Golf is a win-win for the city of Danbury so why can't the city get on board and make it happen? For a list of Disc Golf courses in Connecticut, click on discgolfscene.com.
