Back to School Dates in Greater Danbury + Dutchess/Putnam Counties
If you're a parent with kids who've have been home all summer, then as the song goes, "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year." But do you actually know when your child is starting school?
Remember when, no matter where you lived, the traditional first day of school happened right after Labor Day? Well, that's not the case anymore.
School districts all over the area have different days that they will be welcoming back students and honestly, you need a scorecard to figure out which school starts when. That's why we've put together this handy, dandy guide as to when school actually starts in Greater Danbury, Dutchess and Putnam Counties.
Now it's not that hard to follow, because most schools start around the same time. If you live in Connecticut, then it's sometime during the last week of August and if you live in New York, then it's sometime during the first week in September. Here are the actual start dates for school districts in Connecticut, Dutchess and Putnam County:
Greater Danbury:
- Danbury - August 31
- Bethel - August 29
- Brookfield - August 29
- New Milford - August 29
- New Fairfield - August 29
- Newtown - August 27
- Redding - August 29
- Ridgefield - August 30 (Grades K-9) August 31(Grades 10-12)
- Sherman - August 29
Dutchess and Putnam Counties
- Brewster - September 5
- Carmel - September 4
- Dover Plains - September 6
- Mahopac - September 5
- North Salem - September 6
- Pawling - September 5
So, hopefully, this clears up any confusion. And most importantly, now you know the actual date — it's time to start celebrating.
