We've all been talking about it. WTF is going on?

It seems people from Connecticut are always complaining about the weather. It's too cold, too rainy, too humid and now too hot. It seems Mother Nature can't regulate her temperatures in this state.

With the weather hitting record temperatures these past 2 days, it's hard to decide what to do with your day, especially when you have kids home from school on summer vacation. This is not ideal weather for the beach or the pool, so what is there to do to keep everyone occupied on such a hot day?

What to Do in Connecticut During an Extreme Heat Wave

I've been getting alerts all of yesterday and today about extreme heat. It makes me want to stay inside all day. I leave my house at 5:20 in the morning, and when I see 85 degrees on my car dashboard, it makes me want to stay inside in the AC.

There's a bunch of great things you can do around Connecticut that doesn't involve the outside.

The Cave (formerly Monster Mini Golf) in Bethel is a perfect way to keep the kids entertained. Not only do you have an indoor glow mini golf, you have laser tag and an arcade as well. It gives you the option to keep everyone busy and stay cool as well.

You can catch a movie at an AMC theater around the state. If you're from the local area, AMC Danbury has a bunch of movie showings today. Grab popcorn, a soda and sit in some blaring AC while watching a new movie.

Why not hit the lanes and go bowling? Bowlero in Milford is a popular spot with 54 lanes to choose from as well as Round1 Bowling and Arcade in the Danbury Fair Mall.

Dave & Buster's is another great way to keep the kids (and yourself) entertained. There is everything you need under 1 roof. Dave & Buster's has 2 locations in Connecticut - one in Milford and one in Manchester.

You can hit up a golf simulator. These are now popular attractions and can be found all over Connecticut. If you still want to get your golf in, compensate for one of those simulators rather than sitting through 18 holes in 100 degree temps.

Indoor rock climbing is another option. Not only are you keeping everyone entertained, but they will be active as well. There are a few different places around Connecticut that offer indoor rock climbing, but Rock Climb Fairfield seems to be a great option.

Of course, these are just some options. There are so many things you can do today, and if you're feeling stuck, this can at least get your mind going. Make sure to stay cool! And don't forget about your pets! These temperatures are not safe for them as well.

Four Businesses in Waterbury That Would Survive The Apocalypse

There are just some businesses too engrained in our neighborhoods that recession, price increases, cordyceps, and even the apocalypse could kill. I spent 50 of my years in Waterbury, and these four places have not changed, nor should they.
