Two Connecticut Ice Cream Shops Named Among Best in Country

We have it good in Western Connecticut, especially when it comes to local ice cream masters. I've been in love with Arethusa ice cream for years, who've won plenty of accolades for their delicious dairy products. Now, two more Connecticut ice cream shops have been named Top 100 Ice Cream Shops in all of the United States for 2023

Yelp.com has just released their list of the Top 100 US Ice Cream Shops for 2023, and they've placed Oxford's Rich Farm Ice Cream Shop at #64. Rich Farm has been family owned and operated since 1994, and they've just started to dish out the good as they celebrate their 30 year anniversary in 2024. Rich Farm operates three locations in Connecticut, and one in California. The Rich Farm Bristol Shop has already opened for the 2024 season, Oxford will open up for the year on March 14, 2024, and the Middlefield location on March 18. Rich Farm features an incredible variety of rotating flavors that they change monthly. My favorite 2023 flavors were Coconut Lime and the old school Ice Box Cake flavor was really good.

But wait, there's more. Less than 20 positions later on Yelp's list for 2023 is Newtown's Ferris Acres Creamery, landing at #82. Two Western Connecticut representatives in the Top 100 for 2023, nice job. Ferris Acres Creamery was established in 2003, and at the moment, have not opened up on Newtown's Sugar Street for the 2024 season. Ferris Acres has plans for a late April/early May 2024 opening. My favorite Feeeris Acre flavor of 2023? Bada Bing. Congratulations to both.
