Thomas Rhett’s ‘Remember You Young’ Is a Tear-Jerker [Listen]
Thomas Rhett's emotional song "Remember You Young" is sure to tug at your heartstrings. It's the second single from his newest studio album, Center Point Road.
"Remember You Young" pays lyrical tribute to scenes from Rhett's past, as well as to his daughters, Willa Gray and Ada James. "Hey babies, crawlin’ on the carpet / No, you won’t be that little for long / One day you’ll move away, but you’re still gonna stay / This innocent after you’re gone," Rhett sings in an earnest, emotional vocal performance.
The album title Center Point Road derives from the name of a street in Rhett's hometown of Hendersonville, Tenn. The Nashville suburb shaped the earliest part of his life: "First dates, first football games, first heartbreak, first kisses, success and failures. I really feel like that road shaped who I am today," Rhett states, "and it felt fitting because the record, for the most part, is pretty nostalgic."

Rhett co-produced Center Point Road once again, with Dann Huff, Jesse Frasure and Julian Bunetta, but this time he also co-wrote all 16 songs of the album — a first for him.
"On this one, I just got back to why I wanted to make music in the first place — and that was writing great songs," he explains. "This is one of those records that every time I listen back to it, it still feels new."
Rhett's first single from Center Point Road, "Look What God Gave Her," dropped in late February. The song recently hit No. 1.
Did You Know?: The Bible inspired "Remember You Young" — really! Rhett tells Billboard that the verse "Always look at your wife in her youth" (that's Proverbs 5:18) really stuck out to him.
Thomas Rhett's "Remember You Young" Lyrics:
Hey buddies that I grew up with / All straitlaced and married up now / You ain't foolin' me, wasn't long ago / We tore the roof off that one-red-light town
And hey darling, sipping that red wine / All classy, kicked back on the couch / You smile and I see you shootin' tequila / Us shuttin' them college bars down
Chorus: And no matter how much time goes by / And no matter how much we grow up / For worse or for better, from now 'til forever / I'll always remember you young
Hey babies, crawling on the carpet / No, you won't be that little for long / One day you'll move away, but you're still gonna stay / This innocent after you're gone
Repeat Chorus: And no matter how much time goes by / And no matter how much you grow up / For worse or for better, from now 'til forever / I'll always remember you young
Whoa, oh, oh / Whoa, oh, oh / Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh
Yeah, I hope when we get to heaven / He looks at us all like we're kids / Shameless and painless and perfect and ageless / Forgives all the wrong that we did
Repeat Chorus: And no matter how much time goes by / I hope we never have to grow up / He'll say, "For worse or for better, from now 'til forever / I'll always remember you young"
Whoa, oh, oh / I'll always remember you young
