This is the most bizarre Christmas song you will ever hear. Every now and then, a song comes along that’s so unexpected and strange, it leaves you questioning not only the track itself but the sanity of its creators. Enter “An Old-Fashioned Christmas (Daddy’s Home),” a song recorded by Linda Bennett and released in 1975 by Mercury Records.

At first, it sounds like your average heartwarming Christmas tune—wholesome, traditional, and filled with festive cheer. But just when you think you know where it’s going, it veers off into the weirdest territory imaginable, leaving you stunned and, frankly, a bit disturbed.

Here is the song which has been scrubbed from Youtube.

The song begins in classic holiday fashion, conjuring up an idyllic family scene as the lyrics paint a cozy picture of a New Haven household eagerly awaiting Dad's return from work:

Look outside, the snow is falling, what a sight to see
Daddy will be coming home as happy as can be
He'll be walking through the door ten minutes after nine
Because the bus he takes each night is always right on time.

It's gonna be a very Merry Christmas with all the children by the Christmas tree
It's gonna be a real old-fashioned Christmas for my children, their Daddy, and me.

So far, so good, right? We’re on the same page: a peaceful, almost nostalgic Christmas moment, filled with anticipation for the family’s reunion.

AND THEN OUT OF NOWHERE A VOICE INTERRUPTS AND SAYS:

We're sorry to interrupt this program but a bulletin has just been handed to me
There has been a serious accident involving the Number 5 bus out of New Haven

Understandably, the children begin to sing their fears to their mother, and she reassures them that Daddy will be fine.

AND THEN THE VOICE COMES BACK ON AND SAYS THERE WERE NO SURVIVORS OF THE BUS CRASH

Daddy's dead! What the hell!? What kind of nutbar, thinks it's a sweet idea to write a Christmas song about a dead Daddy?

This song had to be penned by someone with serious gratitude issues.

AND THEN, WHEN ALL IS SAID AND DONE, DAD IS ALIVE!?

You made me go there, to the lowest place I could be while listening to a song and you bring him back from the dead!? You were onto something with Dad coming home to see the family, I didn't need him to be murdered and then raised from the crypt.

You really need to hear this for yourself. If I were you, I'd pick it up from the first bulletin which comes in at the 1:30 mark.
