Asking someone their favorite restaurant is very subjective, who's to say? What if I like a local faster food restaurant, over formal, sit-down dining sometimes? You can get superior service at a local diner that makes you choose that place, when others proclaim that they were ignored for an hour after placing their order.

But if you ask the general public, restaurant workers, proprietors, and food critics what their favorite restaurant in Connecticut is, and the numbers were crunched by advocates for the Connecticut restaurant industry, I'd respect the choices.

The Connecticut Restaurant Association (CRA) is a Farmington-based, non-profit association, dedicated to supporting the Connecticut restaurant industry and it's workers.

So, according to the Connecticut Restaurant Association and their 2021 CRAzies Awards, which is basically the Oscars/People's Choice Awards for Connecticut Restaurants and their workers, the best overall restaurant in Connecticut for 2021 is Millwright's Restaurant and Tavern, which is located at 77 West Street in Simsbury.

What's on the Millwright's menu? Locally-sourced menu items like Foie Gras Torchon, Chicken Liver Mousse, Steelhead Trout, Smoked Duck Drumettes, and Mushroom Bolognese to name a few. I've never been, but the menu looks curated, and includes a dish for everyone to enjoy.

There were 4 regional "Best of" award winners announced during the ceremony, which took place at Foxwoods. Millwright's won Connecticut's North Region category, and the overall title.

In the South Region, Cheshire's Viron Rondo Osteria, which is located at 1721 Highland Ave, won the category.

Litchfield's @ the Corner, located at 3 West Street, won the West Region CT CRAzie Award for Best Restaurant.

And finally, Connecticut's South Region CRAzie winner for 2021 is Oyster Club, which is located at 13 Water Street in Mystic.

Other CRAzie awards were given out for People's Choice, Bartender, Server, Caterer, Chef, Pastry Chef, and more. You can read the list by clicking HERE.
