I love spuds. Give me a baked potato, fries, a potato pancake, mashed, I don't care, I'll eat it. But I think that even I would have a problem eating a 44,000 pound potato. I'll have my chance and you will too. There's a huge tater coming to a great BBQ restaurant here in Connecticut this summer.

Wellllll, I should say that it's not a REAL potato, that would be impossible, but you could buy some real ones while you're checking out PotatoZilla, Anyway, The Famous Idaho Potato Tour and their Big Idaho Potato Truck is coming to Connecticut this summer, Torrington to be precise. They're bringing a serious attention grabber, a 44,320 pound (4 ton) 13 foot by 10 foot potato to Zach and Lou's Barbeque which is located at 2936 Winsted Road in Torrington on June 15, 2022.

The four-ton monster is about the size of about 21,562 medium-sized Idaho potatoes and it would take more than 7,000 years to grow to that size. The big tater would take about 2 years to bake, and if you cut it up, it would make 20,217 servings of mashed and almost 1 million fries. For those who are wondering, the largest potato ever grown weighed 11 pounds.

So what can you expect when the huge potato pulls into Zach and Lou's parking lot in June? A whole lot of information about Idaho potatoes and a slew of local charities that will be helped out via Big Idaho Potato's A Big Helping Program, which has helped out countless local charities across the US in the cities and towns where the Big Potato has stopped at since the first cross-country tour in 2012. I'm sure they'll have fun stuff to do, and you'll be able to purchase some of those spuds to take home too. You know what goes well with Idaho potato also? Zach and Lou's Barbeque.
