Some folks bark at the moon, and some howl. What do the owls do, though? It's kind of sexy.

For the moment at least, we aren't experiencing arctic temperatures while trudging through tons of snow. An evening hike to get the blood flowing sounds perfect. The adventure of learning about what some of Connecticut's owl population is up to this time of year sounds intriguing, because of a piece of info I stumbled on.

The New Canaan Nature Center says that the Owl Moon is here. It's what they call the full moon nearest to the beginning of the mating season for Great Horned Owls, who typically start their calling in late January. Who can blame them? After all, winter still has a long way to go, so I say, it's go time for snuggle time.

To that end, the New Canaan Nature Center invites you to join them for an interactive night hike and live owl presentation where you'll be able to chat up experts, ask questions about how owls use their keen senses to navigate the night, and learn first-hand how they can hunt in the dark.

Space is limited so registration is recommended, and you can buy your tickets now for $10.The New Canaan Nature Center is located at 144 Oenoke Ridge and the even goes from 6:30 p.m. - 8 p.m. on Saturday Jan. 21

Hey, after you get all exercise and fresh air, you'll have room for - WINGS! Don't forget that Connecticut Wing Fest is the following Saturday, Jan. 28 and you get a better deal if you buy your tickets in advance.
