The Amber Room and Danbury Officials Help Make ‘Disaster Relief Meals’ a Reality

Nobody wants to imagine a natural disaster in the Greater Danbury area where residents might be cut off from necessary food supplies to feed their families.

As a result of the proactive thinking of Danbury's City Council, Doug Polistena, owner of the Amber Room Colonnade, and Matthew Cassavechia, the city's Emergency Management Director, that unimaginable scenario has been addressed. During an interview with CT Post, here is what Cassavechia said:

Any disaster — anything that would create a situation where we would be required to feed a mass amount of people — whether they be first responders, health care workers or citizenry — we are preparing for all of those scenarios.

Both Doug Polistena and Matt Cassavechia are remarkable individuals and two people I am proud to know. I have worked with Doug as the owner of my mobile DJ company during many events held at the Amber Room and I fondly remember Matt when his family lived in my neighborhood in New Fairfield.

The Amber Room has partnered with City Hall and Danbury's Department of Emergency Services to prepare a massive amount of meals within a short period of time in preparation for any man-made or natural disaster.

During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Amber Room provided 75,000 meals for individuals and families who couldn't leave their homes. This is an impressive example of three organizations coming together to help the citizens of Danbury if a natural disaster should occur.
