A 19-year-old has been arrested after he snuck into a former prison and got stuck inside a cell in Fishkill, New York.

An interesting case of instant karma unfolded late Saturday night at the Downstate Correctional Facility when the New York State Police (NYSP) and local first responders had to rescue a teenager after he allegedly snuck into the prison and got stuck inside a jail cell.

Teen Sneaks Into Prison and Gets Stuck in Fishkill, NY

According to a press release from the NYSP, it all started on Saturday, June 14th at approximately 12:04 a.m. when troopers from the Wappinger barracks were called to respond to a report of trespassing at the former Downstate Correctional Facility, located at 121 Red Schoolhouse Road in the Town of Fishkill, NY.

Police said that as they arrived on the scene, they discovered that the caller, identified as 19-year-old Cody M. Mallon, of Argyle, New York, had locked himself inside the facility’s jail cells.

How Did the Teen Sneak In?

Once they located the teen, troopers, along with the Glenham Fire Department, were able to safely remove him from the cell. Once removed, Mallon was placed under arrest, and troopers began an investigation, which revealed that Mallon had allegedly entered the unused facility unlawfully by crawling through a hole in the perimeter fence.

Police said that he reportedly entered the former correctional facility to take photographs and subsequently got trapped inside a cell.

Malon was charged with Criminal Trespass in the Third Degree, a Class B misdemeanor and was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Fishkill Court at a later date.
