Did you know that for the 1st time this year, something amazing will happen across New York?

It has been a long, cold, and wet winter, right? We've had freezing temperatures, hail, snow, sleet, rain, and everything else that makes a New York winter brutal but as we slowly make our way out of winter and into spring there are a bunch of things that are happening that should put a smile on many faces.

Has Spring Sprung in New York?

Spring doesn't officially start until March 19th this year so if you are reading this before the 19th, NO it hasn't sprung just yet but if you take a look around you'll notice that there are many signs that spring is coming and we couldn't be more excited!

We are expecting it to be warmer this week with temperatures getting into the 70s, yards across the state have started to show some color with little flowers starting to pop up everywhere, both are great examples of spring arriving but the one thing that I think most of us look forward to more than anything else is what's about to happen for the first time this year.

It's Still Light Outside

Earlier this week we turned our clocks ahead an hour for daylight savings time, which can lead some of us to complain about losing an hour of sleep...LOL!

That loss is well worth it when we get to experience what happened this week for the first time in 2024. The sun didn't set until 7 p.m. Tuesday for the first time this year and hopefully, you are as excited about it staying lighter longer as we are because it's only going to get better from here.

The sun stayed out until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12th and for daylight lovers, it will only get better moving forward. It will be many sun-filled months until the sun sets before 7 p.m. again according to the folks at Time and Date. The next time the sun will set before 7 won't happen until September 17th and if you love the sun as we do here are a couple of other dates you might want to remember...

May 10th will be the first day the sunsets after 8 p.m.
June 29th and June 30th the sunset will happen at 8:31 p.m. making it the latest it will set in 2024.

Happy spring!
