The Squantz Engine Company in New Fairfield has a brand new fire truck, and they are celebrating with a wet-down on Saturday afternoon at their firehouse on Rt. 39.

If you're wondering what a wet-down is, it's a tradition among fire departments to celebrate a new truck by inviting their company and other responders from out of town to participate in a huge water fight. I spoke to TJ Kronen from Squantz and he told me,

Everyone operates water pressures at a safe level and everyone who wants to play gets sprayed with water.

The public is also invited out to check out the new truck. According to TJ,

It's a way of bringing people out to thank them for supporting us and give them an idea of what the new truck and other rigs can do and what and how things operate at a call.

The fire department will also be selling shirts with a picture of their new truck as a fundraiser. The event happens from noon-4 on Saturday April 22 at the firehouse, 255 Rt 39 in New Fairfield. Parking will be available at the State Park parking lot across the street.
