Spring cleaning? Don't throw those things away. Donate them to your local animal shelter.

Now is the time of year when so many are cleaning out their homes to get ready for the warmer weather. It's also the time of year that animal shelters are in need of exactly what you may be thinking of throwing away. Any old blankets, towels, and bedding are some things that shelters are always in need of but, right now, it's kitten season. Those old items that you would normally toss out are a wonderful thing to give to your local shelter.

Don't forget, old cat carriers, baby gates, even that cat water fountain that you thought you would use but it's somewhere up in the attic would make a great donation. Do you have an old litter box or litter scoop taking up room in your garage? Anything that you are not using anymore could be just what your local animal shelter needs. Many have a wish list on their website.

We can't adopt them all, sometimes money is tight and we can't donate cash, but here's a way that you can help that won't cost you anything and will truly make you feel good inside.
