The mini island just off the coast of Norwalk called Tavern Island has a buyer, according to Hearst Media and what a deal at $7.85 million.

Tavern Island was first settled by explorers in 1651, and later used as a fortress guarding the entrance to Rowyaton Harbor against the British during the Battle of Norwalk, which took place on July 12, 1779.

The 6,116 square foot mansion was built early in the 1900s and was owned by Broadway lyricist, Billy Rose, who was known to throw some raucous parties in the 50s and 60s, whose guests read like a real "who's who" and included Marilyn Monroe, Maureen O'Sullivan, and Barbara Streisand.

After living the island life for 30 years, the current owners Albert and Barrie Zesiger, who were originally asking $11 million, had originally accepted an $8.7 million deposit on the property, but closed yesterday (June 28) for $7.85 million.
