Some Connecticut Towns Have Lifted Mask Mandates, Others May This Week

To wear a mask, or not to wear a mask? It all depends on what Connecticut town your in.

As the COVID-19 numbers start to level off, and in some cases drop a bit in the state, many towns are considering lifting their indoor mask mandates for those who are vaccinated.

According to wtnh.com, this week, many area towns will take under consideration lifting their mask mandates. It's already happened in towns like Danbury, Glastonbury, and Windsor. On Friday (October 15) Manchester lifted its mandate leaving the mask decision up to local business owners to choose if they want to continue to enforce it on their own.

Meanwhile, there are other towns like East Hartford who are not ready to take it to the next level yet due to a substantial spread in the virus in that area.

According to CDC.gov, the term substantial spread means that there are anywhere from 50-99 cases of COVID-19 per 100,000 people reported during the last seven days. The percent positivity is the percentage of positive COVID-19 tests throughout the country over the last seven days as well.

This data gives local town and city officials the opportunity to adhere to this guidance and decide whether or not to consider a removing your mask mandate.

Now just because a town lifts their indoor mask mandate, there are certain places where no matter what the mandate is, you still have to wear your mask. According to ct.gov, masks are still mandatory in healthcare facilities, public and private transportation, correctional facilities, schools and childcare.

Now with every town having different restrictions, it could get a little confusing, so it's a good idea to have your mask handy just in case the town your in has not yet lifted its mask requirements.
