Not too long ago, MSN and Mindmonia teamed up to publish a hilarious list titled "Top 8 States in America with the Most Self-Absorbed People."

I was a moth to the flame. I couldn’t resist. I was fully expecting our beloved Nutmeg State to catch some shrapnel — I braced for impact. But somehow, Connecticut dodged this particular bullet. Instead, it was all our neighbors who got roasted.

Here are the nearby states that made the list:

  • New York

  • New Jersey

  • Massachusetts

Part of me wanted to break into a celebratory jig over this, but the more reasonable part of my brain yelled, "HALT, LOUIS!" This had to be written by someone with a strong anti-East Coast bias. I did a little digging (not full-blown stalking — that’s creepy) and saw that Mindmonia is based in Wyoming. So yeah, I might be onto something.

Anyway, my first instinct was to dance on the graves of our neighboring states and invent a taunting bedtime chant to rattle New York, New Jersey, and Massachusetts. But that’s baby behavior. Shame on me.

The truth is, the Northeast — especially the Tri-State area and New England (yes, we’re in both) — needs to stick together. Because when the West or the South starts throwing shade on our sterling reputations, we’ll need backup.

So, let’s act like a team for once and say it together: Boooo! This list stinks!

Thoughts and Prayers to the folks at Mindmonia, I wish you nothing but the best, meditate on that.
