Expect Delays on Route 7 in Brookfield This Weekend
Route 7 is getting ready to rumble. Maybe it's not what you were thinking, but DOT crews will be installing rumble strips this weekend, so you can expect some minor delays.
If you're not familiar with rumble stripes, they are applied to the roadway in the direction of traffic, usually next to the edge line of the roadway, or sometimes you'll find them on the center lane. The main purpose of the rumble strips are to stop, or slowdown traffic ahead of an approaching danger spot.
The roadwork, which will take place during the overnight hours this weekend, is scheduled to start on Friday evening.
According to newstimes.com, the milling of the pavement to install the rumble stripes will mean lane closures this Friday and Saturday evening starting at 7 PM and continuing until the following morning at 5 AM.
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is reporting that the lane closures will occur from Silvermine Road to Federal Road. Drivers are asked to look for traffic control personnel, and signs that will help motorist navigate through the construction. Of course, they are also reporting that any bad weather could delay the work at any given time.
Motorists are advised by the Connecticut DOT to remain especially alert, drive cautiously, and to maintain a safe speed when driving in and near the work zone.
