It's really a perfect location since the Ridgefield Playhouse was part of the old Ridgefield High School, so the location fit the mold perfectly.
According to patch.com, the playhouse transformation started over the weekend with the Ridgefield Playhouse sign being replaced and changed into "Gates Falls High School".
The movie which is set to be released sometime in 2022 is being directed by John Lee Hancock who has also directed some pretty big box office hits including The Blind Side, The Rookie, Saving Mr. Banks, The Founder, The Highwaymen, and most recently The Little Things.
The movie that was shooting Monday at the Ridgefield Playhouse is based on a story from Stephen Kings latest collection, "If It Bleeds", and is summarized as the story of a young boy who works for an elderly man and purchases that gentleman a cellphone. When the older gentleman dies, the boy leaves his old friend a message, and is shocked to get a return text.
The film has also been shot at another Connecticut location in late October. For those scenes Washington Street in South Norwalk was used as the on location site.
