The Putnam County Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is looking for the public's help in it's current animal cruelty investigation.

The SPCA is trying to find out more information about the owners of a male mastiff American bulldog mix that was found Sunday morning  lying on the road in Southeast.

According to patch.com, and the Putnam County SPCA, the dog in question was discovered at the intersection of Sodom Road and Brewster Hill Road. The dog was immediately taken to Guardian Veterinary Hospital, and was found to be severely underweight, had bone and bone tissue issues, severe dental disease, masses inside it's mouth, overgrown toenails, swollen paws, an untreated mass on it's back, and a broken left jaw.

If anyone knows anything about this case, or has any information about the owners of this dog, The Putnam County SPCA would like to hear from you. You can call the Putnam County SPCA Law Enforcement hotline at (845) 520-6915. All calls will be kept highly confidential. Remember, animals subject to this type of cruelty can't afford to wait.

The Putnam County SPCA is the only animal charity given police powers in Putnam County to enforce the animal cruelty statutes. They are not a shelter and are an independent organization not funded by the state of New York. They do provide a 24/7 cruelty hotline to report cases of suspected animal cruelty.
