I commute between Waterbury and Brookfield via I-84 Monday thru Friday, I've been doing so for over 13 years.

I can't tell you how many motor vehicle accidents I've seen between exits 17 and 9. Hundreds? There's a motor vehicle crash through this stretch almost daily. Most of the time, people accept responsibility for their action, but someone did a little bump and run along I-84 Westbound in Newtown the other morning, and the police are seeking your assistance in locating the driver.

The Connecticut State Police at Troop A in Southbury are investigating a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Monday morning, October 5, 2020, at 7:45AM, on I-84 Westbound, in the vicinity of exit 11 in Newtown.

They are seeking the public's help in identifying the evading vehicle, described as an older, dark gray Toyota 4Runner, which had two kayaks on its roof. After the accident, the Toyota fled the scene, with its rear bumper hanging off. If this sounds familiar, and you may have seen the accident, or know who owns the Toyota, you're being asked to contact the Connecticut State Police at Troop A by calling 203-267-2240. All information will remain confidential.

I can see if the accident was a little tap, maybe bent the license plate a little bit, but, you have no excuse when you get out of your Toyota, and see that your bumper isn't in the place where bumpers should be. Maybe they were late for the great kayak adventure of 2020? Who knows. But if you do, give the troopers a call.
