You're invited to come on out this Sunday to Candlewood Lake for the CT Special Olympics Plunge Candlewood hosted by the Brookfield Police Department.

For many years, the Penguin Plunge has been the Connecticut Special Olympics' signature fundraising event, which has collected hundreds of thousands of dollars and provides year-round sports training and competitions for over 12,000 athletes and their unified partners.

This Sunday, March 15, at Brookfield Town Beach, you can join Greater Danbury's Home of Rock 'N' Roll i95 by being a part of this exciting fundraising event by plunging into the frigid waters of Candlewood Lake with hundreds of others to help raise money for Special Olympics Connecticut. Check-in/registration takes place at 11 am and the plunge kicks off at 1 pm. Never been to a plunge? Check this out!

i95's street team will be on hand, playing music, hosting games, and giving away free swag. Donations have already reached the $9,000 mark thanks to many area businesses.

I remember when I volunteered to plunge for the first time when the Plunge was held years ago at Lake Compounce. Many plungers were dressed up in costume, which gave the Penguin Plunge a realistic, party-type atmosphere.

As freezing as the water felt, I still felt that rush knowing that it was all to raise money for Special Olympics Connecticut. Click on this link for all the different ways to volunteer. It's not too late to get involved and join this fundraising party. Click on this link for all the different ways to volunteer.
