Phil Vassar Talks New Country and More With Mr. Morning & Suzy
You know we love 'The Vassar' and it's always great when he's on the show. During our latest interview Phil talked about 'Songs From The Cellar', and the state of Today's New Country.
Phil Vassar has released 9 critically-acclaimed albums, was the Academy of Country Music’s Top New Male Vocalist, two-time ASCAP Songwriter of the Year (penning hits for Tim McGraw, Alan Jackson, Trisha Yearwood and others), Billboard Country Songwriter of the Year, and received a Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Original Song. He has scored 10 Number 1s, 15 Top 10s, and 26 top 40 hits.
I like to call him the Billy Joel of Country Music, and he's appearing at the Ridgefield Playhouse on Friday (Oct. 19th).
He took a few minutes to call into the show and we got to talk about his new PBS Show, 'Songs From The Cellar', the state of New Country, and if he ever wrote a song that someone else had a big hit with that he wishes he kept for himself:
