Petey and Coco From New Milford are Looking For a Forever Home
This week, we've got two Beagles available for adoption. One is an adult, and one is a senior dog, and they are totally bonded.
If you love Beagles, then we have two very special ones for you this week. Now, just to let you know, they do have to be adopted together because they are lost without each other.
Both Petey, and Coco Chanel came to the Animal Welfare Society from a southern high kill shelter. They were not taken care of properly, they were left outside a lot, and never experienced the type of love a pet gets being in a good home.
PETEY
Petey is a 15lb, 5yr old neutered male mini Beagle. Petey is the most adorable little man, but he is sensitive. Petey is a fun boy who warms up after he gets to know you and his new surroundings. He doesn’t seem to mind cats, and enjoys playing with other dogs. Petey is quite the explorer, and he is also loving and playful. Petey would do best in a quiet low key home without small children, as he is sensitive to fast movements and loud noise.
COCO CHANEL
Coco Chanel is a 10 yr old, 25lb female Beagle. Coco is currently being treated for skin issues, most likely a flea allergy. Coco is a sweet senior lady who is playful and loves to explore the yard. Coco shows no interest in cats, and could live with other dogs as long as they are respectful and not too rowdy. She would also benefit from some basic obedience training.
Now, because of the COVID-19 restrictions, if you're interested in adopting one of the featured pets, or any dog or cat at the shelter, first fill out an application on their site at aws-shelter.org. Once your application is approved, you can call them at 860-354-1350 and schedule your one-on-one limited contact meeting.
The shelter is always in need of items to help keep the animals safe and clean. Right now, they are looking for bleach, paper towels and dry cat food.
If you can contribute, you can drop off the items at the shelter at 8 Dodd Road in New Milford. Just let them know you're going to drop something off, and you can do it with no contact by just leaving it in front of their building. You can also check the Animal Welfare website for the Amazon wish list, and have the items delivered right to the shelter.
