What were the reasons that families decided it was the time to 'get out of Dodge'? They were, in this order:

  1. Concerns for personal and family health
  2. Moving closer to the family
  3. Changes regarding employment status or work arrangement
  4. Choosing to make a lifestyle change.

A real estate agent friend of mine in New Fairfield told me it's absolutely crazy. When she said crazy, she meant business was booming. The day I talked with her, she had four closings scheduled for one day alone back in July. The following quote was taken from the United Van Lines survey:

The slower pace of life brought on by COVID-19 caused us to re-evaluate what was important to our family. We wanted to be closer to our extended family and friends.

I recently sat down with a real estate agent I've known for 30 years to explore our options. I personally have absolutely zero talent when it comes to making any home improvements. We've owned the home we're living in now for the last 34 years, and it needs some work. The problem we're running into now is getting callbacks from contractors because they're so busy. If you're kicking around the idea of selling your home, my recommendation is to talk with a reputable real estate professional and have him or her work up a home assessment. It should help you make certain decisions when it's time to make your next move.
