Pedestrian Killed On Federal Road in Danbury, Police Say
A woman was reportedly killed after being hit by a truck on Federal Road in Danbury.
As initially reported by Fox 61, 71-year-old Dona Kramer of Cincinnati was struck by a Chevrolet Silverado as she was crossing the street near 59 Federal Road, right in the area of Frank Pepe's Pizzeria Napoletana around 8:00 PM on Friday (October 4).
Police say the driver of the pickup, 50-year-old Angel Cuenca, saw Kramer in the road and tried to come to a stop, but was unable to do so before striking the woman. When first responders arrived, Kramer was rushed to the Danbury Hospital Emergency Center, but succumbed to her injuries shortly after arrival.
The crash caused both directions of Federal Road to be closed for a period of time Friday night, but has since been reopened.
As of this writing, the crash is being investigated by the Danbury Police Department's Traffic Division. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has information about it is urged to contact Sgt. Rory DeRocco immediately at 203-797-2157.
This crash happened less than 12 hours after another woman in her 70s was struck and killed on Candlewood Lake Road in Brookfield, just about four miles away from where Dona Kramer was killed.
