A partial building collapse in Bethel has triggered a gas leak on Tuesday afternoon (August 4).

According to State Representative Raghib Allie-Brennan the roof of the old Vaghi Woodworking building in Bethel's downtown area caved in as the result of Tuesday's severe weather and high speed winds.

Thankfully, no injuries have been reported, but an associated gas leak has caused the entire block to be evacuated.

Residents are urged to avoid the area for the time being.

Rep. Allie-Brennan says that the majority of the higher wind gusts should move from Fairfield County to parts of Central Connecticut around 4:00 PM.

This is a developing story and we'll be sure to keep you updated as more information rolls in.
