Once-in-a-Lifetime View of the Planets Will Happen Over Danbury

It's been a busy celestial June. The Strawberry Moon was June 15. The longest day of 2022 was this past Tuesday, the 2022 Summer Solstice. From here on out for the rest of the year, we lose a little bit of that beautiful sunshine every day. But the night time reveals the universe to us, and if you're an early riser, get up early tomorrow (Friday June 24), you can see something that doesn't happen too often in our lifetime, five of our planets, in a pretty arc alignment.

If you can get a good view of the South and East horizons, and you're usually awake between 3:30 and 4:30 AM, have a look on Friday morning or for the next few days. The perfect time to see it will be right before sunrise, so in that time frame, you'll be able to see from left to right in the southeast horizon - Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn.

It's been a very long time since this view has happened, really making it once in a lifetime. According to Space.com, the last time this kind of planetary alignment happened was on March 5, 1864. That year, notable events around the world included the Heineken Brewery being founded in the Netherlands, The American Civil War was raging, and Nevada was admitted as the 36th US State.

I just checked the forecast for the greater Danbury area, and it should be partly cloudy and around 58 degrees Friday morning. Take a moment early risers, you're one of the few that will be able to take this in.
