Ocean State Job Lot Is Coming Soon to Danbury

Get ready shoppers, there's a discount giant opening soon in the old Toys 'R Us and Babies 'R Us location on Backus Avenue in Danbury.

The announcement was made late last week that the company recently commited to the ground lease for the space that was once Toys 'R Us and Babies 'R Us on Backus Avenue in Danbury.

This will mark Ocean State Job Lot's first ever store in Western Connecticut. The company does have other nearby Connecticut and New York locations including stores in Mahopac, and Torrington.

If you've ever shopped at a Job Lot, then you know that they're famous for a wide range of merchandise that they sell at big discounts.

According to the mission statement on their website, their main goal is to provide exceptional value to their customer's through opportunistic buying and selling of quality brand name merchandise.

Paul Cox, the Director of Sales for the retailer, had this to say to patch.com about the new Danbury location:

Despite a challenging business climate, Ocean State Job Lot is committed to continued expansion and growth throughout the northeast and we are proud to add another store in Connecticut. We look forward to creating new jobs when many are struggling to find work, filling a large vacancy in a popular shopping center, and providing great values and a friendly shopping experience for the Danbury community.

At this time, the retailer will not occupy the entire Toys 'R Us and Babies 'R Us location. They will take more than half the space, and are currently looking to add a second retailer to move in to the remaining space.
