NWS Issues Severe Storm + Freeze Warning for Connecticut + HV Tonight
Looks like we're in for a drastic change in temperatures later today and tonight.
If you've been enjoying the nice spring like temperatures over the last few days, that's all about to change.
According to the National Weather Service, a cold front will move through our area later today triggering the possibility of some strong storms that will drop temperatures to below freezing by early tomorrow morning.
An advancing cold front will trigger a line of showers and t-storms, with locally heavy rain and gusty winds possible as the line moves through this afternoon.
Due to the drastic temperature change, the National Weather Service has issued a warning about crops and sensitive vegetation.
Freezing conditions could kill crops, other vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing. Your advised to bring any plants that are sensitive to the cold indoors, also draining in-ground sprinklers and draining outdoor pipes or allowing them to drip slowly to avoid freezing and bursting.
Things will start to moderate tomorrow with temperatures heading back into the 40's, and get back into the 60's by Friday.
As far as your extended outlook into the weekend, look for sun and temps in the 60's on Saturday, and Sunday looks wet with showers early, ending by the afternoon with highs in the mid 50's.
