If you look at the calendar, it's still summer, but that's not stopping Mother Nature from delivering some frost to the area this weekend.

Get ready for a blast of cool air in the region, as we have a chance of seeing the first frost of the season. Right now, the National Weather Service says that temperatures in Greater Danbury, and areas of Dutchess and Putnam Counties, will get down into the 30's on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights. Of course, the highest risk for some frost will be in the cooler areas of the state, with northwestern Connecticut at the highest risk.

The cold front, which will move into the region by Thursday evening, will even keep daytime temperatures a little cool. The NWS says to expect a chilly few days, and Saturday is expected to be the coolest, with temps only in the mid 60's, which is 10-15 degrees below normal for this time of year.

By early next week, expect a warming trend that should bring temperatures back to where the should be, with highs near 70 degrees both Monday and Tuesday.

Here's the official National Weather Service Weekend Forecast:

  • Friday: Partly Sunny High in the mid 60's
  • Friday Night: Partly Cloudy with lows in the mid 40's
  • Saturday: Sunny and highs in the mid 60's
  • Saturday Night: Clear and cool, lows near 35-40
