A Hudson Valley man who's been convicted six times for selling drugs was sentenced for his most recent conviction.

On Wednesday in Putnam County Court, 39-year-old Omar Miles of Peekskill was sentenced to 23 years in prison. In September, he was charged with three counts of criminal sale of a controlled substance and three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Miles, a six-time convicted felon, all for drug sales, faced up to 36 years in state prison, officials say.

While on parole, Miles sold cocaine on three different dates in October of 2017 throughout Putnam County. He was arrested by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Enforcement Unit shortly after.

“Omar Miles is the definition of a recidivist, a career criminal. Each day he is in jail is one less day that his drug dealing can victimize our community and one more day that the people of Putnam County are a little bit safer than before, Assistant Putnam County District Attorney David Breanne Smith said at the sentencing.
