Newtown Police: Teen’s Car Crashes Through Sandy Hook Home

In a truly terrifying situation, a teenage driver was hospitalized after police say he crashed his car into a home in Sandy Hook.

According to social media posts from both the Newtown Police Department and Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue they sprung into action at around 9:20 AM on Friday morning (June 21) after an accident was reported in which a driver crashed into a house on Cherry Street in Sandy Hook.

Newtown Police believe that the 17-year-old male behind the wheel may have suffered from a medical issue, which caused him to "lose control and crash into the raised ranch."

The Toyota sedan became wedged inside the house and the driver had to be extricated from the vehicle. He was immediately transported to Danbury Hospital, but as of this writing, there have not been any updates on his current condition.

The residents of the Cherry Street home happened to be inside at the time, but no injuries were reported.

The crash made a huge mess, tearing apart wood, sheetrock and insulation. There was also concern with a leaking propane tank and a broken water line.
