There's no doubt about it. Newtown is a happening town as it continues to emerge from a pandemic as a destination for shoppers and restaurant-goers. Newtown has seen 10 new business start-ups during the pandemic.

An office park on South Main Street was purchased by a New York family shortly before the pandemic hit. Now that we're all transitioning into a new normal, the owners have decided to open a Mediterranean-style restaurant.

Family owner Merita Nezaj explained to News Times that she grew up in Armonk, NY and remembers her family celebrations where food was served in the style of Mediterranean small plates. Nezaj is excited about bringing great food and conversation to her family's new 80-seat restaurant in Newtown.

Some of the new eateries in Newtown include a two-in-one restaurant combo at 19 Main Street, where the Inn at Newtown used to be. Upstairs is an upscale restaurant called Marygold that features menu items such as sirloin tartare and roasted halibut. The downstairs where Proud Mary's was located is now called Good Old Days Pizza.

Another impressive new business is the NewSylum Brewing Company at 36 Keating Farms Avenue at Newtown's Fairfield Hills campus. I am thrilled to tell you I've tried this new Newtown brewery recently and I've discovered two new loves in my life; the Therapy Session Pale Ale and their Bianca pizza. So go there and be mesmerized.
