Hometown delis are one of life's pleasures, especially your favorite deli that always makes your favorite sandwich just how you like it.

My family and I have been customers of the New Fairfield Food Center since the day we moved into New Fairfield in March of 1979. The large, corporately owned grocery stores have their place in a small town like New Fairfield, but they don't come close to the service and individual attention the Food Center offers. To put it bluntly, their meat department and their deli kicks ass!

The Food Center has been owned by the Petrone family for the last 40 years and is currently run by John and Kori Petrone. In my humble opinion, their deli is the best of the best because of their homemade salads, meatballs, hot and cold sandwiches, their service excellence and their menu board of their signature sandwiches that will make your mouth water just by reading the descriptions. Every sandwich selection is created with Boar's Head cold cuts.

Over the years, Boar's Head has watched the New Fairfield Food Center Deli blossom into the talk and taste of New Fairfield and now Boar's Head is proud to name the Food Center Deli as an honorary "Deli of Distinction", the very first deli in Connecticut to receive the honor. According to the shelbyreport.com, the Deli of Distinction program was developed by Boar's Head to recognize independent delis that promote the highest standards of quality and exceptional customer service.

Boar's Head, along with New Fairfield Food Center owners, Kori and John Petrone saw this as a perfect opportunity to throw a celebratory bash and pig roast this Saturday, October 21 from 11 am to 3 pm, and you're all invited! I wouldn't miss this for the world. The Food Center is located at 1 Brush Hill Road at the intersection of Route 37 and Route 39.
