Early yesterday morning, Thursday, May 27, 2021, at around 12:30 AM, Naugatuck Police received a complaint of a suspicious vehicle in the area of Seth Drive at Highland Avenue. Officers soon arrived, found the vehicle in question and attempted to question them.

According to the NPD, the suspect rammed a marked patrol car, occupied by an NPD Officer and their K9 and fled the scene. There was some damage to the officer's vehicle, but the officer and K9 both were uninjured.

The suspect's vehicle is described as a 2013-2016, dark metallic blue, Mercedes E-Class wagon. There will possibly be some damage to the vehicle's headlights and bumper area from the collision with the NPD cruiser. Anyone with information is being asked to contact investigating Officer NPD Sgt. Derek Poundstone at 203-729-5221 or you could call the confidential NPD Tips Line at 203-720-1010.
